A friend of mine once told me, “You’ll know you’re living your best life when you start disappointing people for the right reasons.” It was a glaring reality that I had to let some people down along the road to achieving the life that God created me to live.
To pursue the life of my dreams I knew I could no longer be scared of what others would think. But why was it still so hard?
I had one great giant fear my entire life. The fear of not being good enough with a sprinkle of the failing in my eyes and especially others. Fear has seemingly stalked me throughout each day. I would feel a dark shadow overtaking me as I would set my eyes on pursuing my goals and ultimately my God given potential.
I would stop dead in my tracks like a deer stuck in the headlights of an oncoming car. Then, SMASH! My fear of failing and disappointing people would cripple me.
HOW TO BE BRAVE AND FEARLESS
I actually haven’t known a time without fear, and the truth is I never will. Our fears are always going to be there lurking around each and every corner. It is something that lives in everyone and always will. If we spend enough time looking for reasons to validate that we aren’t enough we will always be able find them.
We tend to over exaggerate what we think peoples reactions will be. We feel judgement before it’s given, we experience fear before it’s warranted, and because of this we stay rooted in the our past failures instead of faithfully striving for a better future.
Fear was trying to get me to belong to other people’s opinions instead of belonging to God.
YOU CAN’T BE BRAVE WITHOUT FEAR
Feeling fear isn’t the barrier of being brave. The difference between the people who are living an unsatisfied life and an inspired life isn’t if they have fears or not. It’s their ability to be brave and chase their fear with faith in God’s plan for their life. To be brave enough to lean into fears, learn from them, acknowledge that they exist, and then take action anyway.
I’ve learned that the blessing you can become in life is usually on the other side of your fears. You have to walk through the fire to get there, braving the heat, controlling how you’re using your thoughts to make decisions about our future.
HOW TO BE BRAVE
The truth is there is no formula, no set parameters, no rules. Bravery looks a lot like trust. In order to step into the uncomfortable moments of life we have to first trust in God. His plan, His will, His presence, His power.
The secret to being brave isn’t relying on our own power to take action. We have to be reliant on Him and put on the armor that He has provided us with (Ephesians 6:13). The secret to bravery is being vulnerable and asking for help.
BE BRAVE WITH GOD
We have to fill ourselves up with something greater than what we are leaving behind. Rewriting our own story and constructing our future filled with faith, first by shaping a brave mindset in regards to what is standing right in front of us. From there set your fears ablaze, build, grow, and move towards your purpose.
We can’t wait to courage to come. It’s a learned skill. Bravery doesn’t exist until me make the decision to trust that we have been created on purpose for our purpose. Chase down fear and grow into the bravest version of yourself, the one God created you to be.
